Hi there. My name is Rachael and I’m the “dude” running the show here at Dudely to Dainty.
In a nutshell, I started this blog as a therapeutic way to keep myself on track with my goal to be more girly and get advice from ladies that know far more about this than I do. I’ve spent my life around guys and training myself to “be a dude” but I finally decided that it’s be nice to embrace my feminine side from time to time.
Dudely to Dainty will be filled with all my girly queries and I’m hoping you will offer your tips, advice and/or a listening ear. Topics will range from fashion to fitness to my random ponderings. I’ll also share some beauty product reviews. Hooray!
I promise to do my best to make them as entertaining as possible and as interactive as I can. After all, the more participation, the more fun it is.
…That’s what she said.
As far as me as a person – I’m 31 and single with no kids. I reside in the great state of Oklahoma. I like spicy foods, slip-on shoes, making lists, stories about serial killers and mobsters, the smell of Christmas, PJ pants, songs in minor keys, people who take pictures so I don’t have to, mix CDs from friends, popsicles and hugs.
So what does that have to do with my writing skills?
Nothing at all.
I’ve been writing this other blog for about four years now. From time to time I manage to write something that gets acknowledged by real writers. During the 2010 – 2011 NBA playoffs, my entry The 10 Commandments for Thunder Fans was listed in the Daily Bolts on the OKC Thunder’s official blog, DailyThunder.com.
Also, my post Top 10 TV Dudes I’d Marry was chosen as a Freshly Pressed article on WordPress.com. So there’s that.
As far a professional things are concerned, I am a former journalist for The Tribune. I covered mostly community events and occasionally did profiles on local talent. I have also worked in the radio industry for a decade and am currently on the air in the Oklahoma City metro at 104.5 KRXO (under the name Rachael James), 104.1 KMGL (also under the name Rachael James) and 91 Online (as Rachael Love). In addition to all that, I write a nationally syndicated countdown show (The Weekend 22), voice some music news and work a desk job… because fun jobs don’t pay.
